Les Meredith is treasurer of EMBARQ. This NYSE-listed company has approximately 18,000 employees and operates in 18 states offering voice, data, high-speed internet, wireless and entertainment services to more than 5 million customers.
In his position, Meredith is responsible for treasury, tax, real estate, sourcing and procurement, network supply, fleet, enterprise risk management, and environmental health and safety.
Meredith was the vice president of Mergers and Acquisitions for Sprint Corporation, assuming financial responsibility for acquisitions, divestitures, strategic alliances and joint ventures for Sprint. He was also responsible for risk management and environmental health and safety for Sprint. He held this position beginning January 1997.
Prior to that, Meredith was vice president of Real Estate for Sprint, a position he was named to in May 1994. In this position, he led efforts to develop the Sprint World Headquarters campus. He also developed and administered all real estate and facilities functions, policies and programs on a nationwide scale.
In March 1992, Meredith was named assistant vice president, Finance, for the Consumer Services Group (CSG). In this role, he managed financial activity for Sprint’s residential long distance business.
Meredith joined Sprint in 1989 as director of the Tax department, and in 1990, he was named assistant vice president.
Prior to joining Sprint, Meredith worked for KPMG in Philadelphia.
